BASA Red-Shirt Referee Program
The BASA Red-Shirt Referee Program is designed for individuals age 13 and older who are interested in learning more about officiating soccer.
This program provides an opportunity to gain on-field experience, develop confidence, and support BASA recreational games — especially when certified referees are limited.
Who is this Program for?
The Red-Shirt Program is ideal for:
- Players considering becoming a certified referee
- Teens looking to earn money while staying involved in soccer
- Individuals interested in building leadership and communication skills
No prior officiating experience is required.
What the Program Includes
The BASA Red-Shirt Referee Program is free to join and includes:
- A referee training session
- On-field mentoring during games
- A “BASA REFEREE” shirt
- A whistle
Participants receive guidance and support as they learn the fundamentals of officiating.
Game Pay
Red-Shirt Referees are paid:
$15 per game
(Paid in cash following each game.)
Pathway to Certification
The Red-Shirt Program is a great stepping stone toward becoming a certified referee. Participants gain valuable experience that prepares them for official certification and higher-level assignments.
