Become a Referee
ON FIELD CLASS ANNOUNCED AT BASA COMPLEX
The BASA Complex has been selected to host an on-field session of the First-Time Referee Certification Process on Sunday, August 30, at 5:00 PM. The on-field session is the final step in the First Time Referee Certification process - where prospective referees will learn vital pregame, in-game and post game procedures in a practical setting. Referees from this class will be certified thru the 2027 Calendar year and can begin refereeing games this season.
If your child, aged 13 and older at the time of registration, or yourself is interested in becoming a certified referee - this is the best and most convenient opportunity to do so. Please follow the link below to set up a referee profile and begin the registration process. You will need to complete online seminars and training prior to the On-Field Session, so do not wait until the last minute to register.

Refereeing is a great way to stay involved in soccer, earn money, and develop leadership skills. BASA welcomes individuals age 13 and older to become certified referees.

Certification Requirements
Anyone age 13 or older can become a certified referee through the Michigan State Referee Committee.
Certified referees:
- Receive priority for game assignments
- May officiate games across multiple age groups
- Are eligible for BASA incentive programs
Work Games at BASA
Once certified, referees may register to officiate BASA Recreational and Select and Premier level games.
Make sure to inform the BASA assignor that you are certified and would like to be assigned games at BASA by emailing basaassignor@gmail.com.
