Community Impact & Giving

Bay Area Soccer Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to growing our community through a love of soccer. While we are known for our recreational and travel programs, our impact extends far beyond the field.

BASA is proudly run by volunteer coaches and a volunteer Board of Directors. Because of their dedication, we are able to offer one of the most affordable recreational soccer programs in the surrounding area — ensuring that every child has the opportunity to play.

Our Commitment to Access

Our Commitment to Access

Our mission is simple: every kid deserves the chance to play.

Through the support of volunteers, donors, and community partners, BASA works to remove financial barriers so families can participate regardless of circumstances.

BASA Free Kick Closet

The Free Kick Closet is a collection of donated soccer equipment available at no cost to BASA families. Players can pick up cleats, shin guards, jerseys, and other gear — or size up and leave their gently used items behind for the next athlete.

Donations to the Free Kick Closet are always welcome. Items may be dropped off at the complex on recreational game days or placed near the closet if it is not open at the time of arrival.

BASA Academic Scholarships

Each year, BASA awards a $500 Academic Scholarship to graduating BASA seniors who demonstrates dedication on the field and in the classroom. This scholarship reflects our belief in developing well-rounded student-athletes and investing in their future success.

Maplewood Park Sports Complex

BASA partnered with the Minority Business Partnership to redevelop the former tennis courts at Maplewood Park in Bay City. The Maplewood Park Sports Complex is a revitalized community park in Bay City that has been transformed into a vibrant recreational hub for people of all ages. What once consisted of outdated courts and open land is now home to new mini soccer pitches, basketball courts, walking paths, pavilions, and fitness stations that serve families across the community. This project has helped redevelop a neighborhood space into a destination for healthy activity, connection, and play — bringing people together and providing free, accessible athletic facilities right in the heart of the city. BASA is honored to have played a role in supporting this collaborative community effort that goes far beyond soccer.
