Coach Communication Responsibilities
At BASA, coaches serve as the primary point of communication for their team.
While information is available on the website, coaches are responsible for helping families stay informed, prepared, and aligned throughout the season.
The goal is not to create more work — but to make sure your team has what they need, when they need it.
What are Coaches Expected to Communicate?
- Introduction to the team (who you are, what to expect)
- Practice schedule and updates
- Game schedule and arrival time expectations
- Picture Day details
- Equipment requirements (shin guards, water, jerseys, etc.)
- Field locations and where to sit
- BASA complex rules and expectations
- Sideline behavior and sportsmanship
- Expectations for treating referees respectfully
- Snack schedules (if used by your team)
What are Coaches NOT Responsible For?
- You do not need to recreate all league information
- You do not need to answer every question immediately
- You do not need to manage every parent individually
Your role is to guide families to the right information and provide reminders when needed.
How to Communicate Effectively
✔ Keep It Simple
- Short, clear messages are best
- Focus on the most important details
✔ Be Consistent
- Send updates at the same time each week if possible
- Use reminders before games and events
✔ Share Links Instead of Rewriting
- Direct parents to BASA pages for details
- Reinforce, don’t duplicate
